Context

Most often pageantry is understood to focus on the external beauty of queens. However over the last decade pageantry has been developed to embody a holistic approach to empowerment of young women and girls to develop themselves and their communities. Pageantry produces beauty queens of compassion, intelligence, excellence and development of God given talents. Pageantry also empowers girls and women to attain their best life skills and knowledge potential and address the needs of their communities.

It is with the above background that The Jewel Michaels Foundation for Education was born with the aim of using the Miss Team Pearl of Africa 2024 pageant platform to promote education that children will go to school, stay in school and complete school.

She has been a Sunday school teacher since she was 12 years old and loves teaching alongside her little cousin, Elizabeth Blessing, who was 10.

This is when she started using her pocket money to sponsor children to go to school.

Frame 38

Our Vision

All children in Uganda should go to school, stay in school and complete school so as to become productive and peaceful citizens of Uganda.

Frame 39

Our Mission

Support children to attain knowledge, life skills as well as safe livelihood opportunities so that they can live productive and peaceful lives.

The Education Challenge

Children drop out due to lack of school fees, due to household poverty, poor nutrition, child labour, early marriages, teen pregnancies, Gender inequity, lack of sanitary pads for girls and other sanitation facilities in schools. There is also limited ongoing public engagement on importance of education. Together, we can change these statistics and ensure all children attain literacy and numeracy skills. We particularly would like to mobilise all parents, leaders and community members to send children to UPE, USE and Technical schools.
